LINNAEA FARM INTERNSHIPS

We’re offering a hands-on, immersive 3 month long (can stretch to the full season) internship rooted in real work, real responsibility, and real mentorship. This is experiential learning in its truest form: Boots on the ground and hands in the earth. If you’re looking for an experience that will challenge you, ground you, and leave you with real competence - this is it.

The Structure:

20 hours/week

Work will cover a broad array of Linnaea Farm’s systems. You’ll work closely with the Linnaea Farm Team and Intern Manager Nola McPhail

This role is part of our food security project.
Housing:

You will be housed in the Farmhouse

Independent rooms and shared living

All utilities and Wi-Fi included

Focus Areas (including but not limited to):

Rotational grazing and fencing
-
Livestock care
-
Garden care- weeding and harvesting

Value-added product development
-
Lawn Maintenance
-
Basic farm maintenance

Broader farm operations and infrastructure assistance

Linnaea Field school’s and events assistance
What You’ll Learn

Hands-on, lifelong skills and practical knowledge you’ll carry for the rest of your life

Working within livestock systems
How to care for animals ethically, read their behaviour, and understand their role in a balanced farm ecosystem. -
Eating directly from the garden
Harvest, prepare, and eat food straight from the soil—learning where nourishment truly comes from and what it takes to grow it. -
Community-based systems
How farms function as living communities, including shared responsibility, cooperation, and mutual support. -
Covenants and stewardship
Understanding agreements, trust, and accountability—between people, land, animals, and future generations.
Compensation:
This position is compensated through experiential learning and housing, while living on Linnaea Farm in the centre of Cortes Island. This includes all utilities and Wi-Fi.

This internship is best suited for someone who:

Is an independent learner with a strong work ethic

Has the financial resources to support themselves independently

With a 20-hour weekly farm commitment, there is ample time to pursue outside employment

Any outside work must not interfere with this internship’s schedule or responsibilities
