The Linnaea Ecological Garden Programme was founded by and is under the direction of David Buckner. David has more than 25 years experience in organic gardening and appropriate technology, including over 20 years on Cortes Island. He studied at the University of California at Santa Cruz, the College of the Redwoods and the Farallones Institute in California and at Aprovecho Institute in Oregon. David is currently on sabbatical in Vietnam seeking inspiration and new opportunities to learn and share his skills.

Theory and practical instruction is provided by Head Instructor Adam Schick. Adam has farmed and taught at Linnaea Farm for the last nine years and previously grew vegetables for market in the Pemberton area. A graduate of the Linnaea Ecological Gardening Programme, Adam shares his knowledge, skills and passion for locally-grown, organic produce with students in the garden and in the classroom.

The Permaculture design component is led by Liz Richardson and Oliver Kellhammer, who bring rich and varied experience to a class which combines urban and rural elements in a dynamic blend. Oliver Kellhammer has worked as a land artist and urban ecological repair specialist since the mid 1980's. A graduate of the Ontario College of Art, Bainbridge Graduate Institute and the University of British Columbia's MFA program, he has taught all over North America. Links to his various projects can be found at: http://www.oliverk.org

The Linnaea Ecological Garden Programme is coordinated by Corry Dow while David Buckner is on leave. Corry holds a BSc in Environmental Science, and is also a graduate of the Linnaea Ecological Garden Programme. She has worked as a gardener for the past 3 years at the Hollyhock garden and for other individual clients on Cortes and in Alberta. Along with Adam and the other instructors, Corry lectures and offers instruction in the Production Garden and in student plots.

Our core Linnaea staff bring a variety of skills, talents and extensive experience to the programme through various short courses and ongoing units. The core staff is also assisted by other Linnaea residents and guest instructors.
