Linnaea School
Linnaea School nurtures its students with strong relationships to teachers, nature and community. Within this container of connection, the curriculum has four goals:

* that students know they bring important gifts to the world, and have had confidence- building experiences in presenting their work effectively;

* that students are aware of their membership in a diverse global community and know that Cortes Island is one small and fortunate piece of a larger whole;

* that students have a vocabulary of virtues and view these virtues as enduring advice on connecting with others and building community; and

* that students understand how we all belong to the earth - we receive everything we need from it, find refuge in its beauty, and make choices every day with physical impacts that either support the biological world or diminish it.

Relationships and curriculum unfold in a place where covenants require loving stewardship of land "in perpetuity," on one of Cortes Island's first farms. Small classes, committed parents and a dedicated staff provide an amazingly enriched experienced for students in a place close to nature and far from the beaten path.
