Maya Buckner grew up on Linnaea and attends grade 11 at Maxwell International School, near Victoria. Recently she brought members of her Environmental club and her science class, along with three staff to spend a weekend at the farm. They camped out at the school, learned something about land trusts and permaculture, helped Kirsten in the seed garden, rode horses and hiked to Easter Bluff. Maya taught some of them how to milk a cow. They ate good, local organic food and generally had a great time. We loved their enthusiasm and energy and the opportunity to turn some amazing youth onto ideas about food sustainability. According to Maya and to their science teacher, Mr. Richardson, many are already asking for a return visit!
