Linnaea
Our visitors' policy allows many Canadian and International visitors to come and learn at Linnaea Farm. We maintain guest rooms that can be reserved, for a fee, at most times throughout the year. Visitors are responsible for their own food. There are also numerous options for camping, bed and breakfasts, and motel accommodations on Cortes Island.
Visitors are welcome to walk about the farm on their own, or can schedule 'tours' to focus on aspects of the farm's operations that are of interest to them. Information and ideas for exploring include:
* greenhouse techniques
* use of indigenous materials for structures, walls, fences, etc...
* seed collection, growing of various berries, fruit and nut trees, and nursery plants
* restoration of fields, stream and forest environments through permaculture principles, managed grazing patterns, hedges and encouragement of diversity of plant species
* composting and composting toilets
* propagation of indigenous and imported plants, (e.g. bamboo)
* alternative education and environmental curriculum
* land trusting philosophy and examples
